MEET OUR PASTOR

ELDER JAMES SHELTON

 James William "Doc" Shelton is the beloved pastor of the Progressive Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where he has been serving since 2014. Prior to 2014, Elder Shelton was an assistant for three years under the leadership of Elder Jaymes R. Mooney at the Progressive Church. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from Hume-Fogg High School in 1977. He has since gone on to obtain degrees from Aquinas Junior College (Associates degree), Tennessee State University (Bachelor of Science in Health & Physical Education and a Master’s degree in Supervision & Administration, +45 additional hours), American Baptist College (Bachelor of Theology, graduated Cum Laude) and Lipscomb University (Master’s degree in Christian Studies).

He has accepted numerous honors and awards throughout his career but is most proud of accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He is married to the beautiful Donna Shelton, formerly Mitchell. They have three wonderful children and six grandchildren.
